Hospital in Olympic city Sochi is equipped with Merivaara furniture

The totally renovated Krasnaya Polyana Municipal Hospital no 8 in Sochi, Russia, chose Finnish company Merivaara to supply most of its new furnishing equipment. The hospital originates from a small infirmary, established more than 100 years ago, and over time it has turned into a medical centre with several medical branches, including therapy, surgery, and neurology. Today, the spectrum of care and equipment of the health facility is at such a high level that it will serve the participants and guests of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi.

Merivaara introduces cutting-edge integrated operating room solution

Merivaara is launching a new version of its integrated operating room system, OpenOR™ over IP. It makes use of medically certified IP technology, which enables high quality video transmission with zero latency. Based on open architecture and modularity, the new system decreases the need for large investments thus helping healthcare providers save costs. The Helsinki University Central Hospital (HUCH) is among the first to take the new system into use.

Helsinki University Hospital chose image management solution from Merivaara

Finnish company Merivaara Corp. will provide operating room image management systems and their maintenance services to the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS). The recently signed contract is a framework agreement, under which HUS can place orders for services and solutions as required. The first delivery will be made to Meilahti Tower Hospital, which is part of the Helsinki University Central Hospital (HUCH). The system will be installed in Meilahti’s hybrid operating room within this year, with equipment installation scheduled for November and preliminary runs for December. The system will then be gradually installed in the other operating rooms of Meilahti Tower Hospital in 2014 and 2015.

Merivaara to deliver operating tables to new surgical education centre in Tampere

The Finnish company Merivaara Corp. will deliver operating tables to the new, state-of-the-art Surgical Education Centre to be opened this autumn on the premises of Tampere University Hospital (TUH). Based on new teaching methods, the centre will be used for teaching purposes by the University’s Medical School and for the further training of surgeons and other health care personnel. As centre of excellence in the field, it provides health care professionals with the unique opportunity to practice surgical operations in an environment that simulates real-life conditions.

Merivaara was introduced to thousands of visitors at the largest health technology trade show in the Asia-Pacific region, China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) in Shenzhen in April. Change in ownership now completed

The acquisition announced earlier is completed and the ownership of Merivaara Corporation has changed. Private equity firm Intera Partners purchased a majority holding in the company, and Merivaara’s management and other key employees became significant minority shareholders. A fund managed by Finnish Intera Partners is now majority shareholder, with a holding of 65%. Merivaara’s key employees hold approximately 35% of the company. The new shareholders’ aim is to develop Merivaara’s business and strengthen the company’s competitive advantage and position in domestic and international markets.
